Ideas for an insights-led branding project

Where next
for Polaris?

From first ride
to first purchase.

Scroll to begin

01 · Our hypothesis

The next generation of Polaris owners already exists.

They just don’t own one yet.

Younger people have not rejected ownership. They are reaching it later. In off-road households, the people riding are considerably younger and more diverse than the people buying.

The opportunity is to build that relationship deliberately: first ride, growing confidence, community, personalisation, and eventually ownership.

A ladder into Polaris.

02 · Where next

They may already know the feeling.

What they do not yet have is a clear path from experiencing it to belonging to it.

Polaris has spent more than 70 years building machines that help people work harder, explore further, and experience the outdoors differently. The conventional answer to an ageing buyer is greater visibility among younger audiences.

We think the more interesting opportunity begins somewhere else. Younger people are already riding as passengers, family members, friends, renters, occasional users, and borrowers.

Research questions we’re curious about

Q01

Not simply their age or demographic profile, but the experiences, relationships, and moments that could draw them into the category.

03 · Signals from beyond the brief

Four moves.
One opportunity.

Polaris knows powersports better than anyone. Our role is to bring a useful perspective from outside it. Select a signal to reveal the transferable move.

SIGNAL_01

Reduce the barriers without reducing the experience.

What they did

Can-Am created an accessible route into on-road powersports, combining a lower price and easier operation with personalisation, training, and community.

Why it matters

Price and ease opened the door. Identity and community made joining feel meaningful.

Transferable move for Polaris

Define the first recognisable step into RZR ownership, then surround it with the confidence, culture, and experience that make it feel unmistakably Polaris.

04 · Our hypothesis

Design the journey from first ride to first purchase.

Polaris already has many of the parts. The opportunity is to connect them into one recognisable progression.

STAGE_01

The moment capability becomes a feeling.

05 · The branding opportunity

Build on the foundations. Design a journey people can grow through.

Polaris has already established strong foundations across its brands, products, experiences, and technology. A focused insight study can show where the next opportunities lie, then help shape a clearer journey that connects those strengths.

Bring more people into the Polaris world, give them reasons to stay, and help them progress towards ownership.

06 · Polar insight capability

We propose a small, deep study of the people already moving through the journey.

Polar’s dedicated research and insight capability would take this hypothesis into the real world, bringing direct customer understanding into the creative process.

01Existing owners
02Younger riders using family or friends’ machines
03Polaris Adventures customers
04People considering a first purchase
05People entering through competing brands
06Owners who progressed from an entry product
07People held back by price, access, confidence, or practicality
  • Who the next Polaris owner really is
  • Which first experiences create momentum
  • Where people fall out of the journey
  • How access, community, skill, and personalisation should work

07 · Insight-led creative
